  3. The (Fitness) Journey Never Ends – it just changes

I love my job. I love my team…. But 2 years of management has destroyed my body…2 years of devolving into who we think of as “our clients” (sedentary, bad diet, sore back, looooong stints at the computer, high stress) has taught me just as much as recovery from illness did. And the the old adage “you don’t use it you lose it” has been deeply driven home.

Fitness isn’t a destination, just like life isn’t. It’s a process, and that’s what’s great about it. As our priorities shift and evolve, our bodies (and, in turn, minds) will as well. I’m at the crossroads where I’ve grown into my job enough that I can shift at least part of my priority back to myself and my wellness.

  4. Physical Strength is Feminist

If feminist is about equal expectation for everyone and women not being afraid or thought of as ‘less than’ or ‘other’, and if you can train to improve strength, isn’t strength training in itself an expression of feminism? If your goal is true independence and a life without fear, the ability to move and own your body confidently in a space is one vehicle to get there.

Reminder: when you're going through something hard let your tribe be there for you. πŸ’— In April 2018, on my last day in Thailand, the 🐈 I'd had since college passed away. This, on top of a divorce and losing my home, felt like a cosmic kick in the teeth. The next morning something beautiful happened. My friends crafted a ceremony to help me say goodbye, even though I'd never get to. πŸ’– Maybe this seems like a silly example; but that moment of community has stayed with me through some very rough times. It also taught me how much it means to show up. πŸ₯° Who/how are you showing up for in your life? πŸ€— #tt #throwbackthursday #thailand #kohphagan #lunaalignmentyoga #friendship #support #love #hardtimes #beach #loss #tribe #wolfpack
This is a post about self acceptance πŸ’– The second picture is easy for me love. Smiling, styled, makeup on, looking cute and having just accomplished a long term goal. I'm proud of that Darlene. She's got her sh*t together. πŸ‘‰ The first one is also me. That Darlene just woke up after a coma-like sleep. She's got no product in her hair, no makeup on, a ton of sh*t to get done and not enough time to do it all. 😳 . The truth: πŸ˜• I used to fight them both. πŸ™ I used to tell them both they weren't good enough. ☹ No matter what either of them did, the mind inside said it needed more. 😟 It was torture. πŸ˜₯ But I learned: πŸ’• They're both beautiful. πŸ’ž They both deserve care, good sleep, good food, hugs, and love. πŸ’— Both "Success Darlene" and "At Home a Mess Darlene" contribute beautiful things to the world. πŸ€— It's not perfect. The journey is still in process . But I'm here to tell you, it's worth the work. πŸ₯° Love yourself. #selflove #selfcareisselflove #selfcare #selfacceptance #selfactualization #selfdevelopment #selfcareexperiment #coaching #coachmentality #coach #curlyhair #curlsforthegirls #curlyhairdocare #curls #curlygirl #naturalbeauty #healthynaturalhair #naturalhair #glasses #glassesgirl
πŸ’– May we all celebrate Friday by respecting one another's humanity. πŸ™πŸ₯°πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ #sharelove #givelove #livefree #love #respect #coachmentality @anidifranco #anidifranco #quote #quotestoliveby
πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’– Peacefulness has become a commodity in our society. You take a pill (or edible 😏), you pay to speak with someone outside your circle, or pay for a drink. But when's the last time you sat outside and just felt the air? Or listened to the water? Or smelled the earth? 🌬🌊🏞 Students tell me they can't meditate because they find it physically uncomfortable. This #throwback is to a moment of peace in Thailand with @luna_alignment_yoga where I spread out on a rock, opened up, and took a long deep breath. πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ #fivemin4fivedays #Meditation #throwbackthursday #tt #lunayoga #lunaalignmentyogattc #kohphagan #myarmpit #peace #selfcareisselflove #selflove #selfdevelopment #coaching #coach #challenge #meditationchallenge
I woke up like this... 😸 We think meditation has to be so serious! That it's a deep well of self examination and being uncomfortable and fidgeting. But it doesn't have to be. πŸ€” What if meditation was about how nice a deep breath feels? About easing the tension from your body, like a massage from your own mind? Would you like the idea of it then? πŸ₯° Remember, whatever you think of meditation is just a story you've told yourself. Just because your brain said it doesn't make it true. 🀯 This week I'm hosting a 5 day meditation challenge. Commit to meditate for 5 min, 5 days in a row. Post to your feed or story (pictures or it didn't happen lol) tag @darlene.coach and #fivemin4fivedays πŸ™πŸ’– #Meditation #mindfulness #catlady #selflove #selfcare #selfcareisselflove #laugh #laughterismedicine #staywild #staywildgypsychild
There's a lot of misconceptions about meditation. πŸ€” One that I encounter often is that you need to sit in a special way or chant special words. That there's a "right" way to do it; which can mean my students tell themselves they're doing it "wrong". πŸ₯Ί My opinion: unless you're meditating to reach enlightenment, or for another spiritual discipline, you can't do it wrong! πŸ˜ƒ In the context of wellbeing, meditation is about slowing down. Giving your mind and body a pause. At first that might feel uncomfortable, but trying it is already helping. πŸ™ What are your questions about meditation? I'll be posting all week. And join my for my meditation challenge: #fivemin4fivedays 🀯 #Meditation #mindfulness #growthmindset #growdammit #growandchange #gooutside
