  3. The (Fitness) Journey Never Ends – it just changes

I love my job. I love my team…. But 2 years of management has destroyed my body…2 years of devolving into who we think of as “our clients” (sedentary, bad diet, sore back, looooong stints at the computer, high stress) has taught me just as much as recovery from illness did. And the the old adage “you don’t use it you lose it” has been deeply driven home.

Fitness isn’t a destination, just like life isn’t. It’s a process, and that’s what’s great about it. As our priorities shift and evolve, our bodies (and, in turn, minds) will as well. I’m at the crossroads where I’ve grown into my job enough that I can shift at least part of my priority back to myself and my wellness.

  4. Physical Strength is Feminist

If feminist is about equal expectation for everyone and women not being afraid or thought of as ‘less than’ or ‘other’, and if you can train to improve strength, isn’t strength training in itself an expression of feminism? If your goal is true independence and a life without fear, the ability to move and own your body confidently in a space is one vehicle to get there.

Last week @equinox asked how I make my life like a work of art ~ for me it's meditation. Meditation allows me the clarity of mind to stay in the present moment, appreciate the beauty around me, and stay in a space of gratitude. . . Real talk: I'm prone to be a but blue, by disposition. I've suffered from depression, and having a condition (#eds) that causes chronic pain exacerbations that problem. I've tried many things over the years, and meditation is one of the most consistent ways to keep my mood even and my head clear. ( 👀 my story for daily tips and meditation reminders) . . This beautiful #tt to #kohphagan #thailand and my time spent with @luna_alignment_yoga ~ our last day is a field trip to a local waterfall to relax and connect with nature... and, of course, meditate! . . . #Meditation #meditate #lunayoga #lunaalignmentyoga #alignmentyoga #focusonyourbreath #selfcareisselflove #iamnotmyillness #EhlersDanlos #teameqx

Sometimes you just need a change in perspective 🤔 . . . I haven't posted much the last few months as I underwent some huge personal transformations. Some days have been a struggle; other days the progress has been obvious. Through it all my meditation and self care have let me see my own resiliency. They've taught me to look beyond my flitting thoughts to my deeper self and work to my real truths. They've also shown me that much of life is what I do with it and how I interpret what's happening around me. . . . Life also continues to reinforce that a little bit more strength and a lot of humor go a long way. 💪🤪😎 aaaand: First post in the new apartment!!
