100 Training Days – Day 2, a day in the life

In my original #100trainingdays post I mentioned my new job – as trainers we often have clients whose lives are structured around chairs. They sit all day, have tons of meetings, and it’s hard for them to get to the gym. I love my new job, but today was one of those days. Tuesday always starts early with sessions and then it’s back-to-back meetings until I go. So today, as I walked out the door (of the gym where I work) I knew I’d missed my workout window.

But I’m not willing to bust on a challenge. And I knew once I met my couch I was going to sink into it.  So it was callisthenics time as soon as I walked through the door.

3 rounds per circuit, 10-15 reps, minimal rest:
     Couch arm pushup 10 rep
     1 leg deadlifts 15 reps/side
     Toe touches 15 reps/side
     Slow Mountain climbers 15 reps/side

     Switch jacks 10 reps/side
     Super man 15 reps
     Plie squats 10 reps
     Lateral lunges 10 reps/side

20 minutes total to meet my minimum requirements for the challenge. Then this happened:

Sore legs!

Collapsed on the bed with my legs up to prevent venal pooling. I was already sore, so tomorrow’s cardio should be fun!

I’ve always tried to be understanding of how hard it is for some if my clients to make time for fitness, but Tuesdays are driving home two things: 1) I didn’t really understand and 2) if you demand of yourself to make time then you will.

I’m going to go sink into my couch now.

(If you’d like to join in check out the spirit of the challenge here. Just hop on board!)

Sometimes you just need a change in perspective ðŸĪ” . . . I haven't posted much the last few months as I underwent some huge personal transformations. Some days have been a struggle; other days the progress has been obvious. Through it all my meditation and self care have let me see my own resiliency. They've taught me to look beyond my flitting thoughts to my deeper self and work to my real truths. They've also shown me that much of life is what I do with it and how I interpret what's happening around me. . . . Life also continues to reinforce that a little bit more strength and a lot of humor go a long way. 💊ðŸĪŠðŸ˜Ž aaaand: First post in the new apartment!! How do you use your downtime? A cancelled client gave me the extra time to get organized, to write, and to focus my mind. So often we spend the gift of a little extra time getting sucked into glowing rectangles - wasted time on our phones, TVs, and tablets. . . Can you commit to yourself today to harness your full potential? How are you going to feed your good wolf? . . . #feedthegoodwolf #potential #progressnotperfection #coaching #organization #bujo #selflove #selfcareisselflove #writer #feedyourdreams #starbucks #icedcoffee #morningglow #curlyhair #curlyhairdontcare #bighair #bighairdontcare
Not gana lie... that felt heavy 😅 (scroll to see my exit face) . . One thing consistent training has taught me: work through sh*t. Things will get hard, they'll feel weird, you won't understand it - keep going. Explore the challenge. Hunt for someone who's handled something similar and learn from them. I'd be nowhere without the support of my mentors and friends who I learn from constantly. 😘 . . . This was Day 1 of phase 2 of my summer prep program. Phase 2 is all volume work... I'm already tired! . . #girlswholift #fitchick #teameqx #eqxgreenwichave #staywild #gypsychild #rdl #deadlift #deadliftsaresexy #thickthighs #thickthighssavelives #legsfordays #liftspiration #fitpro
