In my original #100trainingdays post I mentioned my new job – as trainers we often have clients whose lives are structured around chairs. They sit all day, have tons of meetings, and it’s hard for them to get to the gym. I love my new job, but today was one of those days. Tuesday always starts early with sessions and then it’s back-to-back meetings until I go. So today, as I walked out the door (of the gym where I work) I knew I’d missed my workout window.
But I’m not willing to bust on a challenge. And I knew once I met my couch I was going to sink into it. So it was callisthenics time as soon as I walked through the door.
3 rounds per circuit, 10-15 reps, minimal rest:
Couch arm pushup 10 rep
1 leg deadlifts 15 reps/side
Toe touches 15 reps/side
Slow Mountain climbers 15 reps/side
Switch jacks 10 reps/side
Super man 15 reps
Plie squats 10 reps
Lateral lunges 10 reps/side
20 minutes total to meet my minimum requirements for the challenge. Then this happened:
Collapsed on the bed with my legs up to prevent venal pooling. I was already sore, so tomorrow’s cardio should be fun!
I’ve always tried to be understanding of how hard it is for some if my clients to make time for fitness, but Tuesdays are driving home two things: 1) I didn’t really understand and 2) if you demand of yourself to make time then you will.
I’m going to go sink into my couch now.
(If you’d like to join in check out the spirit of the challenge here. Just hop on board!)
