#harderThanitLooks

Day 1 of #100trainingdays started for me with a ViPR workout focused on mobilization. While it’s only 6 kilo, the red ViPR can be a beast when you’re extending fully.

This past weekend I attended a workshop with ViPR creator Michol Dalcort on Loaded Movement Training – training that focuses on movement efficiency and quality over the linear strength gained by “traditional” lifting. My trainer pals and I have come to call it “farm boy strength”. (Right, Joe?)

(Update: as Joe pointed out, he actually says Country Strong. Total misquote. Sorry Joe.)

My quads were already killing me from the 4 hour workshop after a month off from training, so I had to keep it simple today. Also took start pictures, but I’m keeping them to myself for now.

Shout out to Code Name: mom and Jess for stepping up. Anyone else in?

What do you already do to care for yourself? ðŸĨ° . . Often our conversations around wellness are all about the things we're doing wrong. Sometimes it's because well meaning coaches wanna be helpful, other times were following the medical model that focuses exclusively on what's bad or needs to be fixed. But studies in positive psychology show that when we focus on what we're getting right we feel better about ourselves and emotionally. . 👍💗 . Chances are one of these domains you are nailing it! Which ones are you getting right and what are you doing to get there?
Gratitude 🙏 . I continue to be humbled for yesterday. Empowered. Overwhelmed. For all the people who showed up in a million ways. For the ones that shared their stories of vulnerability and growth with me throughout the day. For the love. For the belief. For the excitement about ideas and how doing the work on ourselves can save the world. ðŸĨī . From the bottom of my heart. Thank you. 💗
I can't thank you all enough for the love and support you've shown me. I am overwhelmed. From the bottom of my heart. 💗
What dreams are you holding yourself back from? 💓 . I first heard about positive psychology 2 years ago and I was immediately hooked. Had you had told me then that this journey would lead me not only to attend a prestigious University, but the opportunity to deliver the speech I get to today, and to meet all of the incredible people that I have, I don't know that I would have applied. I would have been too intimidated. All I knew was I want to learn. And boy have I! . Thank you everyone for the incredible support. I can't imagine being on this journey without all the people who love me. I'll do my best to do you proud. . Tune in at 1:00 p.m. today to hear my Ben talk and learn about how sustained self improvement efforts evolve the self over time so that you have more to contribute to the world! And don't hold yourself back from your scary dreams. The world needs you!
What needs are you missing? ðŸĪ” . . Recently I had the flu and was the sickest I've been as an adult. One day was bad enough I could no longer care for myself and a friend came to care for me. Now that I'm on the other side I can revisit the #selfcare ideas I was working on from a fresh perspective. ðŸĪĒ . . It's easy to know what a plant or a pet needs - food, water, play, sunlight - but do you approach your self care in the same way? Have you given thought to what your needs are? Many coaches will tell you that you have to care for yourself to be able to care for others - but then leave you confused about what meaningful self care looks like. This slide is from my workshop on self care. What are YOUR care needs? Are they being met? ðŸĪ” #selfcare #wellness #wellbeing #coaching #holistichealth #fitness #needs #yourneeds #purpose #positivepsychology #mapp
FUN is a human need! ðŸĪŠ Fortunately, my humans get that. . . . I was lucky to have a really fun mom (shout out @heading4healthy ) and even though we didn't have much in resources we knew how to have FUN! It may not be on Maslow's Hierarchy, but being able to play builds relationships and relieves stress. Do you agree it's a human need? How do you make space for fun in your life?
