Wisdom Wednesday: Thankfulness

November 21, 2012 by Darlene McC

Happy Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Amazons.  I am incredibly thankful for the fruits this year has born in my life and for the wealth of readers that have joined this community.  We’ve had some incredible growth this year, and it’s only getting better (November is already our highest trafficked month ever… before that it was October.)

If you’ve been with UA for awhile you can probably already guess: I was the kid at the Thanksgiving table trying to get everyone to say what they’re thankful for.  Given the nearly-pessimistic pragmatism of my extended family I was rarely indulged by anyone but my grandmother, Betty; but the love of tradition and my desire for genuine sharing still stirs me toward that bend.  I want to know what others connect with in their lives; I want to hear about the things that stir their hearts.

In hunting for a WW quote for today I tried to find “Thankfulness” quotes which touch that feeling of connection.  I also wanted a quote that shifted perspective on what it means to be thankful.  While I didn’t find a single quote that did both, I think these two work in concert.

Please, feel free to share in our comments what you’re thankful for this year.

Cue the song by Poison, please...

Happy Thanksgiving, Amazons.

I’m thankful for have the best kind of friends; friends who will tell me the truth, good or bad, even when I can’t fathom it.

I am incredibly thankful for a life that affords me the opportunity for self-reflection, growth, and artistic pursuit. There are so many elements that have to come together for that to happen; I am overwhelmingly fortunate – and thankful that I know it.
